4/23 Video Dressage Clinic

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Video Dressage Clinic! We had a fantastic turn out and lots of positive feedback from everyone. While this was a clinic rather than a show, the tests were scored and "placed" though no awards were given out as it was simply for learning purposes. However, here's a look at how everyone did! Not bad for the first time out this season for most of our riders, and the first time ever riding a scored dressage test for some!

4/9 Bit By Bit Show Results

The first show of the season is always a challenge as riders get their horses out into the show ring for the first time after a long winter being cooped up inside. The horses are excited, the riders are anxious, and the cool Spring breeze doesn't help! Still, our five riders who attended the 4/9 Bit By Bit show really stepped up to the plate.
Stephanie rode Zip after he had over a week off due to an injury - he had no turn-out in this time, and Steph had no practice. He was better just in time for the show, and Steph had to go with what she had. Haley and Nicole were both on new horses (Haley on Thunder and Nikki on Starlight) who they had never shown before, so having their first show off the farm was a huge challenge!
The show itself wasn't entirely stress-free either, as after two successful tests, Duncan had a momentary "freak-out" in the warm-up ring that ended in a bad fall for Grace, who only had a few minutes before her next test. Although the fall was a pretty major one (who says dressage is boring!) and Grace was reasonably shaken up, she was able to get back on and complete her test (the highest test she has ever ridden in competition, mind you) and earn her highest score of the day!
*Haley Schierwagen and Thunder now have 1 of their 2 qualifying scores for the NPASS Championships, and are qualified to do their Training Level Musical Freestyle!*

Introducing....THE PHANTOMS OF THE OPERA and THE AMERICAN IDIOTS

We're officially announcing and introducing our teams for the 2011 Ride 4 Hope Quadrille Challenge!

On October 2nd, The Phantoms of the Opera will face off against The American Idiots!

These names might seem quite random without the announcement of this year's theme: Broadway Shows! As you may know, The Phantom of the Opera has been the unanimously most popular, longest running Broadway show in history! Greenday's American Idiot, on the other hand, is only a year old and has completely redefined musicals, defying everything you thought you could expect on Broadway. With great music stemming from both musicals, what better shows to pick?

You may remember Christmas Magic and Spectromagic from last year's challenge. Most of the team members have stayed the same for this year. Five out of the original six Christmas Magic riders have formed The Phantoms of the Opera, riding and choreographing their routines to the spooky, thrilling classical style of Phantom.
Similarly, five our of six riders from our Gold Medal team, Spectromagic, will be making up The American Idiots, riding and performing to Greenday adaptations from the unique rock-opera, American Idiot.
